9CI was founded to provide multi-disciplinary engineering consulting services to established companies, startups, and individuals.  Our specialty is in system integration where multiple competing requirements must be met (for example, tight packaging requirements requiring tight integration with electronics).  We have a broad range of experience across electrical, mechanical, battery, power supply, and RF disciplines and bring a holistic approach to all of our engineering efforts.

Bio David

David Giessel has provided engineering services for applications including radio module development, drone/UAV electrical and mechanical design, specialized low magnetic field system design, and design of battery management systems ranging from 1 to 91 cells.  Much of his career has been spent in the drone/UAV industry performing a wide range of work including developing prototype solutions for unique applications, operating vehicles for scientific research, and working as a field application engineer (FAE) supporting industrial UAVs.  In the FAE role he traveled throughout Latin America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, developing business and communiations skills required for successful interfacing across lingustic and cultural barriers.  This work also provided him with an in-depth understanding of how industrial product requirements fundamentally differ from those in the consumer space.

David holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and M.S. in Electrical Engineering with a focus on low power embedded systems from the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

Bruce Hildesheim has worked with electronics most of his life, and has maintained a career in both technology and the fine arts.  He has designed and assembled control systems, power supplies, audio signal processors, amplifiers, gas LASERs, RF transceivers and antennas for communications in the VHF, UHF and SHF frequency range.   In the electronics industry, he has supervised PCB assembly, quality control and testing.  In recent years, he has worked in the UAV industry developing and flight testing new vehicle designs.  He owned and operated a 48 track recording studio in western Canada for 8 years and continues to maintain a working space for forensic audio, analog mixing and video editing under DarkClassical.com

Bruce holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Juilliard School in New York.  As a classical musician, he has performed with the Red Deer Symphony, Calgary Philharmonic, Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, National Ballet Orchestra, and the Tenerife Orchestra.  He also holds an Advanced Amateur Radio Certificate (Canada) since the age of 13.

Kayla Bio

Kayla Dennis has worked with the elderly in various aspects such as nutritional and exercise programs and is interested in studying the effects of neural degradation. She has conducted clinical research using the electroencephalogram for mild cognitive impairment in the temporal, parietal, and frontal regions of the brain. The objective was to determine the onset of the first stages of Alzheimer’s Disease and aid in the development of an inexpensive early detection method. Kayla has travelled through Europe and South America in pursuit of cultural enrichment and healthcare system innovations. The intent is to use this information to aid in the building and repair of the Canadian healthcare systems.

Kayla holds a B.Sc. with Honours in Human Kinetics with a focus on nutrition and an M.Sc. in Clinical Neurophysiology from Middlesex University in London, specializing in mild cognitive impairment in search of Alzheimer’s diagnosis techniques.
